Artists from Mexico and Indonesia (Dance & Music Performances) – 2026
JGIS had the privilege of hosting a team of talented international artists on 3rd February, 2026, offering students a unique opportunity to experience the richness of global music, folk dance, and culture. The performances created an atmosphere filled with rhythm, creativity, and cultural appreciation.
A team from Mexico showcased the folklore of Jalisco through the lively Jarabe Tapatío, widely known as the Mexican Hat Dance and charro culture, symbolizing pride, honor and tradition. Representing Indonesia, the team presented a traditional kecapi music performance, highlighting the soft and soothing sound of the Sundanese string instrument and also performed the stunning traditional Peacock Dance (Tari Merak) from West Java, Indonesia.
These performances went beyond artistic presentation, serving as meaningful efforts to preserve traditional arts and introduce regional cultural identities to a wider audience. They promoted cultural sustainability, education and cross-cultural appreciation, highlighting the enduring relevance of traditional dance and music as bridges between cultures and generations.
