Lit Fest - Class VIII - 2020
The final day of the JGIS Lit Fest 2020 began with an introduction to the short story, The Canterville Ghost, by Oscar Wilde. Two students, Manav and Angaj introduced the story as well as the chief guest with a rap song.
The students of class 8 ICSE presented the story of Sir Simon, the ghost, in an entertaining and creative manner. They tried to convey the message, “When we do something wrong to others, our soul would not get peace even after passing from the world.”
The students of class VIII IGCSE enacted the novel “The Hobbit”. The story revolves around Bilbo Baggins, the main protagonist who is swept into a quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf kingdom from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of dwarves. Bilbo gains possession of a precious ring which makes him invisible and so is able to come close to Smaug , infuriating him. Bard another character from Lake Town kills Smaug and the dwarves are able to retrieve their lost treasure.
The students recreated a fantasy world of dwarves and dragons with their superb performance and artistic skills
The guest for the day was Mr. Vishwesh Desai, an 18 year old successful author with two books to his credit. He also conducts workshops and training sessions for children, on reading and writing. Mr. Desai shared anecdotes from his childhood where his mother used to read to him since he was a toddler. With his inspiring words and sharing of his experiences as a writer, Mr. Desai encouraged the students to read and write. He also had words of praises for the performers and their efforts behind the successful event.
The Lit Fest of the year was culminated by a vote of thanks by the Principal, Dr. Kavita Sharma, and showing a video consisting of the glimpses of all the performances since Day 1.
