Orthopedic Session (Class-V) - 2025
On Thursday, 10th July 2025, an informative session was conducted for the students of Class - V by Dr. Praveen Sarda, an esteemed Orthopedic specialist. The primary aim of the session was to provide students with a clear understanding of the Human Skeletal System, including bones, joints, and muscles.
Dr. Sarda began the session by engaging students with a few interesting questions like “How many bones are there in the human body?” and “What are bones made of?” This sparked curiosity and set the tone for an interactive learning experience.
He went on to explain several key concepts in detail, such as:
- The types of fractures and how they are treated
- The structure and composition of bones
- Various types of joints in the human body
Students were fascinated to learn several intriguing facts during the session:
- Bones are not completely solid—they also contain water
- The outer covering of bones is called the periosteum
- Astronauts need therapy to walk again after returning from space
- The wrist is the most commonly fractured bone
Dr. Sarda also shared the RICE method as a simple and effective first-aid measure for fractures:
- R – Rest
- I – Ice
- C – Compress
- E – Elevate
The session concluded with an enthusiastic question-answer round and a doubt-clearing session, during which students actively participated.
To express their gratitude, the students presented Dr. Sarda with a Thank You card, followed by a vote of thanks.
Overall, it was a highly educational and engaging session that enriched the students’ knowledge of the skeletal system in a fun and interactive way.
