Lit Fest (Class-VII) - 2023

The 7th day of the Lit Fest at JG International School commenced by welcoming the parents and the Chief Guest of the day - Mr. Umashanker Yadav, the founder director of the Ahmedabad International Literature Festival founded in 2016, the Chairman, Dr M.P. Chandran, Ms Uma Oza and the Principal, Dr Kavita Sharma. The anchors of the day, Chaarvi Jain, Drishya Vaidya and Ahana Paul initiated the Fest by introducing the plays and interacting with the audience. 

 

The students of grade VII IGCSE performed a short play named - ‘The Kabuliwala’ from the novel ‘Short Stories by Rabindranath Tagore’. The theme of the play was the beautiful relation and bonding between a father and a daughter. The play portrayed the life of the protagonist Kabuliwala, the struggles he faced while being away from his family, the little girl he confided in while remembering his daughter and the reuniting of him with his family in Kabul, Afghanistan after several years. The students emoted the life and miseries of the characters very realistically and touched everyone’s heart with their splendid performance.  

 

On the other hand, the students of grade VII ICSE performed a play on Anne Frank’s autobiographical novel, ‘The Diary of a Young Girl.’ The play thematized the consequences faced by the innocent Jewish people because of Hitler’s order to exterminate the Jews. The play revolved mainly around the life of Anne Frank, a young girl of thirteen along with other Jewish people trying to save themselves from being sent to the concentration camps. Mr. Frank, Anne’s father is the lone survivor among the members hiding in the Secret Annexe and the one to get Anne’s diary published. The students beautifully portrayed the constant terror faced by the Jewish families and the ill-treatment meted out to the Jews in the concentration camps.

 

The guest for the day, Mr. Umashanker Yadav, shared his valuable insights related to overcoming stage fear. With his inspiring words and sharing of his experiences as a writer and a journalist, he encouraged the students to read and write. He also shared his feedback about the plays and appreciated the school management for providing the students a platform to showcase their talents. The programme ended with a speech of appreciation and some words of wisdom by the Chairman, Dr M.P. Chandran and a vote of thanks by the Principal, Dr Kavita Sharma.
