Field trips provide students the opportunity to take a break from their normal routine and experience more hands on learning. JGIS arranged Field trip to Axis Bank, Law Garden Branch, Ahmedabad., for classes - 10 IGCSE, 11 & 12 ISC, AS and A level, IBDP II on September 19, 2017. In total 77 students were accompanied by teachers – Ms. Neha Amin, Ms. Smita Singh, Ms. Sushma Vasu, Ms. Reena Nathani, Ms. Hetal Philip, Mr. Sabu Officials from Axis Bank made very nice arrangements.
A session on brain mapping was conducted by Mr. Mohit Mangal and Ms. Manisha Angre of Ique foundation for the teachers of grades V to XII on 16th September, 2017. It’s aim was to help the students to career/ stream selection of students after school based on their interest, aptitude and personality.
Inter House English Debate was scheduled on 15 September 2017. Two participants from each of the four houses participated. The participants are, Muskaan Ohri and Yuvraj Khosla (JB), Yashas Samtani and Vishnupriya (RT), Fenisha Shah and Dhruv Sachchade (CS), Hemant Sheshadri and Aayushi Patel (AS). The debate topic was “Democracy in India has more drawbacks then benefits”.
JGIS invited parents of grade I-IV for the event “ MOMS and DADS at School” on 12th Sep’ 2017 . The parents were given a traditional welcome by applying tilak followed by group song sung by the students. To make sure that the parents relive their childhood, various games were organized which they played and revived their school and college days. To encourage the bonding between parents and child, some spectacular collaborative classroom activities were conducted.
Inter House Hindi Recitation Competition for the year 2017-18 was held on 8th September, 2017. The competition was conducted for two categories, the junior category having participants from grade I & II and the senior category having participants from grade III & IV. Teachers in charge was Shipra, Palak, Bharti. Judges were Deepa Arora and Archana Chaurasia. Scorers were N. Vijay Lalitha and Shila Singh.
In this fast growing world, where we are all charged up to accomplish our daily task, we come across stress, frustration, anger and many other emotions that hover our mind. Class IV Diamond showcased a presentation on “Anger Management” showing its various facets; What is anger? How can we manage it? Anger is like a mirror, it reflects our inner instability. It makes us blank and blind. verbal assault, aggression and physical violence are the types of Anger.
A trip was organized for classes V to VIII to witness the Science Express at Khodiyar Railway Station, Ahmedabad on 6th September, 2017 . Classes IX and X also visited the same next day. The Science Express was like any other train, except that its carriages were painted white on the outside with drawings of environment-related themes and the inside was modified to house Science exhibits.
Teachers’ Day was celebrated on 5th September, 2017. The Principal, Ms. Kavita Sharma, Manager Admin, Ms. Rekha Anil and Parent Relation Officer, Ms. Rema Nair attended the event. Students of classes V to XII also witnessed the programme. The day began with the morning assembly conducted by the students. All the teachers and the admin staff were given different tags. Later, all the students who became teachers went in their respective classes to teach. The afternoon session, Students of classes V to XII performed a number of dances.
Onam was celebrated in JGIS on 1st September 2017. The portico was decorated with colourful flowers. The staff and students presented a special programme highlighting the culture and tradition of Kerala in the form of a dance drama which passed on the message of national integration and cultural diversity to the audience. The traditional Kaikottokkali, vallamkali, pulikali were also the part of the programme. Principal and other staff members too witnessed the programme. Executive Director Mr. M.P. Chandran greeted the staff and students.
